February 3, 2013- Town of Boston- Sheriff Tim Howard reports the arrest of a Town of Hamburg man for Felony DWI While Intoxicated. This is the 37th DWI arrest made by the ECSo in 2013.
Erie County Sheriff’s Deputy Brad Ballantyne located a vehicle operated by 38 year old Frank Richards, after receiving a report that Mr. Richards was involved in a disturbance on Feddick Road in the Town of Boston and left the scene before patrol arrived at same. It was also reported to the ECSO that Mr. Richards had been drinking. Upon further investigation, Deputy Ballantyne found Mr. Richards to be intoxicated and placed him in custody. Mr. Richards was taken to the Erie County Sheriff’s North Collins substation and a chemical breath test was administered. The test revealed that Mr. Richards had a blood alcohol content of .11%. Due to Mr. Richards having a prior conviction from 2007, Mr. Richards was charged with Felony DWI. Mr. Richards was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana. Mr. Richards was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in the Town of Boston Court at a later date.

AGGRAVATED DWI ARREST
 February 2, 2013- Sheriff Tim Howard reports the arrest of an Amherst woman for aggravated DWI. This is the 36th DWI arrest made by the Erie County Sheriff’s Office this year.

Deputy Mathew Fuqua assisted by Deputy Jonathan Hanna responded to a reprot fo a vehicle tha slid into a tree on Stahley Road in the Town of Clarence. The 22 year old driver of the vehicle, Heather Lewandowski, was found to be intoxicated and was taken into custody. Ms. Lewandowski was taken to the Erie County Sheriff’s Elma substation where a chemical breath test was administered. This test revealed that Ms. Lewandowski’s blood alcohol content was.19%- more than twice the legal limit. Ms. Lewandowski was released to a third party on uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Clarence Court at a later date.

SIX DWI’S OVER THE WEEKEND
January 26, January 27th- 2013- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of six offenders for Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s Road Patrols in separate incidents on Saturday night and Sunday morning. After responding to a report of a car driving recklessly at about 4:30 pm Deputy Scott Kuhlmey arrested David Bubar Jr. (29) of North Tonawanda. A breath test conducted at the Sheriff’s Clarence substation revealed his Blood Alcohol Content to be .21%.

While on patrol in Grand Island Deputy Dan Harris responded to a single car accident at approximately 12:15AM. This led to the arrest of Autumn L. Urbaniak, (22) of North Tonawanda. She was charged DWI as well as Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th degree and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. In addition to driving drunk she had in her possession a quantity of marijuana and multiple packages of synthetic marijuana. She was processed at the Grand Island substation and her Blood Alcohol Content was .11%.

While on patrol in Colden at approximately 12:30AM, Deputy Ben Pisa responded to a single car accident in which a pick-up truck hit a utility pole and sheered it in half. The driver, Sean J. Eschborn (26) of Colden, was arrested and charged with DWI and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. A breath test revealed his Blood Alcohol Content to be .16%. He was processed at the Springville Station and released.

While on patrol in Elma at approximately 1:30AM, Deputy Rich O’Neil arrested Jacob P. Bogard (24) of Marilla and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions after stopping his vehicle on Bullis Rd in Elma. His Blood Alcohol Content was .13%.

While on patrol in Clarence at 2:11AM, Deputies Simon Biegasiewicz and Dave Zamorek arrested Katherine E. Kline (22) of Amherst after a traffic stop. In addition to DWI and traffic infractions she was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. A breath test revealed her Blood Alcohol Content to be .12%

While on patrol in Grand Island at approximately 3:15AM, Deputy Mike Okal arrested a 19 year old Grand Island man following a traffic stop. After failing standard field sobriety tests he was taken to the Grand Island substation to be processed. His Blood Alcohol Content was .09%.All parties were released on appearance tickets into the custody of a sober third party.

Dukes of Hazard, New York Style! Zakariya H. Ibrahim leads deputies on chase through towns and red lights

January 23, 2013 Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of an area driver for Reckless Endangerment and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s Road Patrols on Tuesday night. While patrolling in the Town of Clarence at about 1:00am Deputies Simon Biegasiewicz and Dave Zamorek were driving North on Transit near Sheridan when they observed a car traveling South at 69 in a 45 mph zone. The driver was later identified as Zakariya H. Ibrahim, 37, of Williamsville. The deputies attempted to initiate a traffic stop but Ibrahim attempted to flee. He drove through red lights at three intersections but eventually stopped. When the deputies approached the vehicle Ibrahim drove off again. He was stopped once more and removed from his vehicle. He failed several field sobriety tests and his BAC was .18%, resulting in an Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated Charge. Mr. Ibrahim was also charged with Reckless Endangerment 2nd, Resisting Arrest, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd, Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3rd as well as 14 Vehicle and Traffic Law Misdemeanor and Violation level offenses. He was taken to the Erie County Holding Center pending his arraignment in the Town of Clarence Justice Court.

Christopher Truglio charged with DWI
 January 19, 2013- Town of Newstead- Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard reports the arrest of an Akron man for driving while intoxicated. Deputy Gene Nati made a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by 40 year old Christopher Truglio on Bloomingdale Road in the Town of Newstead after he observed the vehicle speeding. Upon further investigation, Deputy Nati determined Mr. Truglio was intoxicated.
Mr. Truglio was placed under arrest and taken to the Erie County Sheriff’s Clarence substation. A chemical breath test was administered and revealed that Mr. Truglio’s blood alcohol content was .10%.
Mr. Truglio was released to a third party on uniform traffic tickets returnable to the Town of Newstead Court at a later date.

 Steven E. Wells made the DWI Hit Parade with DWI arrest in Village of Akron by Deputy Lee Richard
While on patrol in the Village of Akron at about 9:00pm Deputy Lee Richard initiated a traffic stop that led to the arrest of Steven E. Wells of Oakfield. Wells, whose license is suspended for pervious alcohol related driving arrests was driving while under the influence of alcohol and as a result he was charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Vehicle in the 1st degree, which is a felony. His Blood Alcohol Content was .20%, two and a half times the legal limit. He was charged with aggravated DWI because his BAC was over .18% and this DWI is also a felony due to Mr. Wells having previously been convicted for DWI. He was also operating a vehicle without an interlock ignition device as was order for his previous DWI arrest. This resulted in a misdemeanor charge for operating a vehicle without the interlock device. He was released on tickets to appear in Akron Village court at a future date.

Robert Krahling Jr. charged with DWI and more
January 17, 2013- Town of Cheektowaga- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports that a routine traffic stop early this morning in the Town of Cheektowaga resulted in the arrest of a Clarence man for driving while intoxicated and driving with a suspended license.
Deputies Simon Biegasiewicz and David Zamorek were on routine patrol when they stopped a vehicle for failing to signal and driving without headlights. It was determined that the driver of the vehicle, Robert Krahling Jr., age 28, of Clarence was intoxicated. It was also determined that his driver’s license was suspended.
Mr. Krahling was arrested and charged with Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree, a Class E Felony; Driving While Intoxicated, a Class A Misdemeanor; and other violations of the vehicle and traffic law. He refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his blood alcohol content.
During the investigation it was also determined that Mr. Krahling and a passenger in the vehicle may have been involved in an earlier, unrelated incident in the Town of Cheektowaga. He was subsequently released on traffic tickets, and turned over to the Town of Cheektowaga Police Department.

While on patrol in North Collins at approximately 5:27PM, Deputy Gary Mosier arrested Thomas R. Ptak (46) of North Collins and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions after investigating a one car property damage crash on Genesee Road near New Oregon Road. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .14%. He was processed at the North Collins Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Clarence at approximately 12:22AM, Deputies Simon Biegasiewicz and David Zamorek arrested a 17 year old male (name not released due to age) and charged him with DWI Drugs and traffic infractions after stopping his vehicle for erratic operation on Main Street. A blood sample was secured to determine his level of intoxication by drugs. He was processed at the Clarence Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Sardinia at approximately 1:49AM, Deputy Ben Pisa arrested  Jessica A. Beck (30) of Arcade and charged her with DWI and traffic infractions after stopping her car for Speeding on Rt. 16 near East Schutt Road. A breath test revealed her blood alcohol content to be .12%. She was processed at the Springville Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Concord at approximately 2:09AM, Deputy Ken Achtyl arrested Janet Waring (58) of Cattaraugus and charged her with DWI and traffic infractions after stopping her vehicle for erratic operation on Rt. 39 near Belcher Road. Waring refused to take a breath test to determine her blood alcohol content. She was processed at the Springville Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Elma at approximately 4:17AM, Deputy Rich O’Neil arrested Todd T. Felong (30) of Alden and charged him with Aggravated DWI and traffic infractions after stopping his vehicle for erratic operation on Bullis Road near Hessland Court. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .20%. The “Aggravated” charge was added due to the BAC being .18% or higher. He was processed at the Elma Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Elma at approximately 4:20AM, Deputy John Szczepanski arrested Leah Ramos (20) of Blasdell and charged her with Felony DWI (Leandra’s Law) and traffic infractions after investigating a one car crash on Willardshire Road. The passengers (including a 15 year old) in the vehicle suffered minor injuries during the rollover crash and were treated at the scene by members of Springbrook Fire Company. A breath test of Ramos revealed her blood alcohol content to be .09 %. She was processed at the Elma Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol in Sardinia at approximately 10:50PM, Deputy Theresa Nietzel arrested Henry N. Williams (20) of Freedom and charged him with 4th Degree Criminal Possession of Marihuana (A Misdemeanor) and traffic infractions after discovering over two ounces of marihuana in Williams’ vehicle during a traffic stop for equipment violations on Rt. 16 near Rt. 39. He was processed and released on appearance tickets for Sardinia Court.

Jeriann Brock charged with DWI after roll-over
Deputies John Szczepanski and Thelma Jones were dispatched to investigate a one-vehicle rollover accident on Vermont Hill Road in Wales at 6:53 PM. The driver of the vehicle, Jeriann Brock, age 52, of Holland, was transported to South Buffalo Mercy Hospital by fire personnel, where she was treated for what appears to be non-life threatening injuries. She was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic law offenses. She was released at the hospital on traffic tickets, returnable in the Town of Wales Justice Court.

Deputies Neil Held and Christopher Soluri were dispatched to investigate a car off the roadway on Old Lakeshore Road on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation at 3:34 AM. As a result, the driver, Dakota Thompson, age 20, of Perrysburg, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and other vehicle and traffic law offenses. He refused to submit to a chemical test to determine his Blood Alcohol Content, and was taken to the Erie County Holding Center, with his release pending on bail being posted.

At the same incident, a passenger in the vehicle, Samantha Jimerson, age 21, of Collins, attempted to interfere with the vehicle being towed from the scene. She refused to leave the scene, and was subsequently arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct, Obstructing Governmental Administration and Resisting Arrest. She was taken to the Erie County Holding Center, and her release is also pending bail being posted.

Deputy Brandon Stott arrested Patrick Wasikowski

January 7, 2013- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Corfu resident for Driving While Intoxicated by Sheriff’s Road Patrols on Monday night after a two car crash investigation in Alden. While on patrol in Alden at approximately 8:30PM, Deputy Brandon Stott arrested Patrick Wasikowski (39) and charged him with DWI, Following Too Closely and Leaving the Scene of an Accident after investigating a two car property damage crash on Park Street in Alden where he drove into the back of another vehicle. Wasikowski fled the scene of the crash but was apprehended a short time later. Wasikowski refused to submit to a breath test to determine his blood alcohol content. He was processed at the Alden Station and released on appearance tickets.

Decmber 31, 2012- Sheriff Tim Howard reports several arrests over the past weekend that resulted in seven motorists getting charged with DWI, including one with a Leandra’s Law crime and one passenger getting arrested for possession of supsected crack cocaine.

On 12/30- Patrols were handling a call near the Transit Town Plaza in Clarence when they encountered Robin Finsterbach, age 38 of Barnum Road, Akron. A subsequent investigation by deputies lead to her being charged withDWI, operating a vehicle ith a suspended license and a Class E felony charge for violating Leandra’s Law- child passener protection act. A breath test revealed her blood alcohol content to be .08%. The child passenger was turned over to a family member. The suspect was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment in Clarence Town Court.

On 12/30- Deputies working the Buffalo Strike Force Detail stopped Kenneth Owen, 46 years old of Grider Street, Buffalo. A subsequent investigation lead to Mr. Owen being charged with DWI and related vehicle and traffic charges. His passenger, Shaeron McMasters, age 29 of Wick Avenue, Buffalo wa charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and false impersonation. She also had outstanding Erie County Family Court and Buffalo City Court warrants. She was transported to the Erie County Holding Center pending arraignment.

On 12/29- Deputies responded to a one car property damage accident on Summerdale Road, Elma. The motorist, Roseanne Rapini, age 46 of Chatham Court, Orchard Park, was subsequently charged with DWI and related vehicle and traffic violations. Ms. Rapini refused to take a breath test and was released to a family memer. She is scheduled to appear in Elma Town Court for arraignment.

Also on 12/29- Deputies responded to a three car property damage accident on Grand Island Boulevard in the Town of Grand Island- one of the involved motorists, Mark GollWitzer of Baseline Road, Grand Island was charged with DWI. A breath test revealed his BAC to be .12%. He was released to a family member and is scheduled to appear in Grand Island Town court for arraignment.

December 29, 20120 – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of two local residents for Driving While Intoxicated in separate incidents early Saturday morning.

While on patrol on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation at approximately 3:30AM, Deputy Chris Soluri arrested Spencer G. Shipley (42) of North Collins and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions after investigating a one car roll over crash on Versailles Plank Road near Snow Road. Shipley was treated at the scene for minor injuries by Reservation Fire EMS. A breath test revealed Shipley’s blood alcohol content to be .15%, almost twice the legal limit. He was processed at the North Collins Station and released on appearance tickets.

While on patrol on Rt.39 in Collins at approximately 4:30AM, Deputy Ben Pisa arrested Joseph S. Rebmann (29) of Gowanda and charged him with DWI and traffic infractions after stopping his car for Speeding. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .12%. He was processed at the Springville Station and released on appearance tickets.

December 26, 2012- Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard reports the arrest of a Springville resident for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and other charges after the investigation of a one car Property Damage Crash on Genesee Road in Concord early Wednesday morning. While on patrol in Concord at approximately 1:00AM Wednesday morning, Deputy Don Hoelscher arrested Joshua W. Moroge (25) and charged him with Aggravated DWI, multiple traffic infractions, and Narcotics Possession (narcotic pills) after Moroge crashed his vehicle at the corner of Genesee and Transit Line Road. Moroge was not injured in the crash. A breath test revealed his blood alcohol content to be .20%, over twice the legal limit. He was processed at the Springville Station and released on appearance tickets. “Aggravated” DWI was charged due to the offender’s blood alcohol content being .18% or higher.

 

DEPUTIES MAKE 6 DWI ARRESTS OVER THE WEEKEND-

 Erie County Sheriff Tim Howard is announcing that the Erie County Sheriff’s Office continues its efforts to prevent tragedies caused by drinking and driving.

Sheriff’s patrols made 6 DWI arrests over the weekend as a result of these efforts. Early Friday morning, Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz and Deputy Michael Okal arrested Robert J. Coniglio, age 51 of Buffalo for DWI and other Penal Law and VTL charges, Coniglio refused to submit to a breath test.

Early Saturday morning, Deputy Gene Nati and Deputy Christopher Soluri arrested John R. Stephanski, age 44 of Lockport for DWI and other VTL charges, Stephanski refused to submit to a breath test.

Saturday evening, Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz and Deputy Michael Okal arrested Gregory D. Young, age 51 of Buffalo for Felony DWI and Possesion Of Narcotics (Crack Cocaine and Hydrocone). Young did submit to a breath test with results of 0.25% BAC. Mr. Young had a prior conviction in 2009 for DWI in the City of Buffalo.

Later Saturday evening Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz and Deputy Michael Okal arrested Robert J. Vance Jr. age 24 of Buffalo for DWI. Mr. Vance did submit to a breath test with results of 0.11% BAC.

Early Sunday morning, Deputy Timothy Cannan and Deputy Gene Nati arrested Jennifer C. Murphy, age 32 of Lancaster for DWI. Ms. Murphy did submit to a breath test with results of 0.12% BAC.

Early Monday morning, Deputy Gene Nati and Deputy Timothy Cannan and Deputy Simon Biegasiewicz arrested Amin D. Jeilani, age 21 of the City of Rochester for DWI Drugs and leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident.
