Connecticut Man Charged With DWI

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the arrest of an Connecticut man on a charge of DWI.

On May 9, 2014 at 1:46 a.m., Sergeant Timothy Gannon and Deputy Sheriff Edward Kennedy stopped a speeding motorist on Route 312 in the Town of Southeast. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Grant C. Schoepp, 18, of 5 Middleton Road, New Fairfield, Connecticut, was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Schoepp and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.

Putnam Valley Man Charged With DWI

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the arrest of a Putnam Valley man on a DWI charge.

On April 26, 2014 at approximately 8:10 p.m., Deputy Sheriff Brian Aisenstat stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Peekskill Hollow Road in the Town of Putnam Valley. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Jason A. Cohen, 42, of 1 Briar Ridge Road, Putnam Valley was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Cohen and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment. On April 27, 2014, the defendant was arraigned before Town of Putnam Valley Justice Louis DiCarlo and released in his own recognizance pending a May 8, 2014 court appearance.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.

Connecticut Woman Charged With DWI

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the arrest of a Connecticut woman on a charge of DWI.

On April 20, 2014 at 2:13 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Edward Kennedy stopped a motorist who had been driving erratically and committing traffic violations on Danbury Road in the Town of Southeast. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Julisa M. Jaime, 23, of 7 Padanaram Road, Danbury, Connecticut was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Ms. Jaime and charged her with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the woman failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where her charge was upgraded to Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor. The defendant was held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.

Motorists Face DWI Charges

 Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the arrest of two motorists on DWI charges.

On April 12, 2014 at 2:31 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Frederick Mark stopped a motorist who had committed traffic violations on Route 22 in the Town of Patterson. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Gerald M. Elsbree, 39, of 13 Kirkham Road, Brewster was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Mr. Elsbree and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated and with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, misdemeanors, after the man failed a series of standardized filed sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

On April 12, 2014 at 8:31 p.m., Deputy Mark responded to a report of a property damage automobile accident at the intersection of Gleneida Avenue and Fair Street in the Town of Carmel. The deputy determined that one of the involved drivers, identified as Lorraine B. Marino-Torres, 56, of 19 Princeton Road, Carmel was intoxicated. The deputy arrested Ms. Marino-Torres and charged her with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the woman failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility, where her charge was upgraded to Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor. The defendant was subsequently released pending a future court appearance.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charges, the defendants face up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00 for each charge.

Carmel Man Charged With DWI

Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith announces the arrest of a Carmel man on a charge of DWI.

On March 28, 2014 at 3:49 a.m., Deputy Sheriff Thomas Lee stopped a motorist who had committed a traffic violation on Route 6 in the Town of Carmel. The deputy determined that the driver, identified as Alfred Dajanaj, 28, of 14 Glenvue Drive, Carmel was intoxicated. The deputy arrested the man and charged him with Driving While Intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after the man failed a series of standardized field sobriety tests. The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and held pending arraignment.

If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000.00.
