New York: Reginald Watkins charged with DWI with two kids in vehicle

According to the Utica Police Department:
Yesterday (February 8, 2013) an Utica man faces two felony charges under “Leandra’s Law (Child Passenger Protection Act) after he drove drunk with two children (ages 2 months old & 6 years of age).

Utica Police Sergeant Don Cinque stopped the vehicle that Watkins was driving in the area of Mohawk and Humbert Streets. Officer Jeremy Nash arrested Reginald Watkins (age 44, of Bacon Street, Utica) and charged him with:
… *Driving while intoxicated-DWI (common law),
*DWI with a blood alcohol content of .08% or higher,
*Two counts of Aggravated DWI (Leandra’s Law- driving while intoxicated with children under the age of 15 years of age in the vehicle), and
*Two counts of Endangering the welfare of a child

A chemical test administered to Watkins revealed that he had a blood alcohol content reading of .15%.
