New York: State Police arrested Larenzo Jackson DWI-drugs; multiple DWI arrests in January to February of 2019

The New York State Police report that on January 31, 2019, New York State Police based in Montgomery arrested Larenzo Jackson, 22 of New Windsor, NY for DWI. He was traveling on Interstate 84 in the town of Newburgh when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic law violation. The investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

On January 31, 2019, New York State Police Greenville (Orange County) report that a trooper arrested Devin Culver, 28 of Port Jervis, NY for DWAI Drugs. Police say that Culver was traveling on Interstate 84 in the town of Deerpark when he was involved in a vehicle crash. Investigation revealed that he was impaired by drugs and was subsequently arrested.

On February 1, 2019, New York State Police based at Liberty arrested Dwight Coombe, 25 of Grahamsville, NY for DWAI Drugs. He was traveling on State Route 17 in the town of Liberty when his vehicle got stuck in the snow. Coombe walked to SP Liberty to ask for assistance. Coombe told the troopers he was operating the vehicle when he got stuck in a snow bank. While speaking to the troopers it was determined that he was impaired. The investigation revealed that he was impaired by drugs and was subsequently arrested.

On February 1, 2019, New York State Police based at Highland arrested Erick Dubon-Ortiz, 24 of Saugerties, NY for DWI. He was traveling on State Route 299 in the town of Lloyd when he was stopped for a vehicle and traffic law violation. The investigation revealed that he was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

Thomas Hagberg, 51, of Frewsburg, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.

The New York State Police report that on February 3rd, 2019, Troopers based at Jamestown arrested Thomas Hagberg, 51, of Frewsburg, for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated.

The Troopers responded to the Frewsburg area for a report of a vehicle driving erratically and initiated a traffic stop after observing the suspect vehicle commit a traffic violation on Meadow Lane. The driver, Hagberg, was placed under arrest after failing several field sobriety tests and transported to the New York State Police at Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .28. Hagberg was then processed, issued tickets for the town of Carroll Court and released. Hagberg is scheduled to appear in the town of Carroll Court later in the month.

On February 2, 2019, the New York State Police in Cattaraugus County and the New York State Liquor Authority conducted an underage enforcement detail checking for compliance at 10 establishments that resulted in 3 arrests.

Police say that the following people were arrested under the New York Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, Section 65- Prohibited sale to a person under the age of 21:

Shannon T. Shelton, 33, of Olean, an employee of Portville Liquor in Portville was issued an apperance ticket for Portville Village court returnable at a later date.

Amy L Ginnitti, 47, of Little Valley, an employee of the Clinton Bar and Grill on Clinton Street in the City of Salamanca was issued an appearance ticket for Salamanca City Court returnable at a later date.

N. Maxine Phanco, 52, of Randolph, an employee of Central Lanes in the City of Salamanca was issued an appearance ticket for Salamanca City Court returnable at a later date.

Zachery Whisner, 21, of Frewsburg, for Driving While Intoxicated on Feb. 2, 2019

New York State Police report that on February 2nd, 2019, Trooper based at the New York State Police in Jamestown arrested Zachery Whisner, 21, of Frewsburg, for Driving While Intoxicated.

Police say that Whisner was pulled over for driving 58 miles per hour on Marvin Parkway, a 30 mile per hour zone. Whisner was placed under arrest after failing several SFSTs and transported to New York State Police at Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .11. Whisner was then processed, issued tickets returnable to the city of Jamestown Court and released. Whisner is scheduled to appear in the city of Jamestown court later in the month.

Donte Chambers, 25, for Driving While Intoxicated New York State Police Jan. 26, 2019

On January 26th, 2019, Troopers out of New York State Police based at Jamestown arrested Donte Chambers, 25, for Driving While Intoxicated and both Chambers and Tony Stewart, 36, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. Chambers and Stewart are both Dunkirk residents.

The Troopers responded to a report of a disabled vehicle on Route 60 in Gerry. The Troopers located the vehicle on the side of the road with a flat tire. While speaking to the occupants, the Troopers smelled marijuana emanating from inside the vehicle.

A search of the vehicle revealed a small amount of marijuana and two bags containing small amounts of cocaine. Stewart was placed under arrest and Chambers was placed under arrest for DWI after failing several field sobriety tests, as he was the driver. Chambers and Stewart were transported to State Police at Jamestown where Chambers provided a breath sample of .11. Chambers and Stewart were then processed and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment. 


Tractor-trailer driver John Saunders busted for DWI

On January 25th, 2019, Troopers out of New York State Police based in Jamestown arrested John Saunders, 37, of Liberty, Indiana, for Driving While Intoxicated.

The Troopers responded to a report of a tractor-trailer off the road on I-86 in Findley Lake, NY. Investigation revealed that Saunders’ truck had recently been put “out of service” in Allegany County, and then Saunders drove west on I-86 in an out of service status before exiting the roadway. Police say that Saunders exhibited signs of being intoxicated but had to be transported to UPMC Hospital in Jamestown, NY for possible internal injuries.

Troopers met Saunders at UPMC, placed him under arrest for DWI and secured a blood sample. During the New York State Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit’s inspection of Saunder’s truck, two open bottles of vodka were located in the cab. Upon his release from the hospital, Saunders was processed at SP Jamestown and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail, pending arraignment.

Robin Anthony charged with DWI after booze cruise hit snow plow; repeat offender, say cops

Police say that on February 4, 2019, at approximately 7:40 p.m., New York State Police responded to State Route 86, between Lake Placid and Wilmington, in the town of North Elba for a report of a two-car motor vehicle crash involving a New York State Department of Transportation plow truck.
 
An investigation at the scene revealed that a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Robin E. Anthony, 50, of Wilmington, was traveling east on State Route 86 behind several vehicles, following behind a New York State Department of Transportation plow truck operated by Lukas A. Matthews, 24, of Tupper Lake.  Anthony tried to pass on the left, going by two uninvolved vehicles and began to overtake the plow truck, as the truck was simultaneously slowing and turning north. As the plow truck turned north, Anthony’s vehicle collided with it.

Police say that Anthony was not injured. She was subsequently arrested for DWI. She was also found to have a previous DWI conviction in August 2010 in the village of Lake Placid. Anthony refused testing to determine her blood alcohol content. She was subsequently charged with Felony DWI, and further ticketed for refusal to submit to a breath test and unsafe passing. Anthony was arraigned in the North Elba Town Court and released on her own recognizance.
A passenger in the plow truck, 31-year-old Mark W. Denton, of Jay, was not injured. 

New York State Police report that on January 27, 2019, at approximately 2:09 a.m., State Police arrested 27-year-old Trevor D. Wright, of Waddington for Aggravated DWI on State Highway 37, in the town of Oswegatchie, after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a snow bank. Wright entered the intersection from New York Avenue attempting to head east on State Highway 37 driving his 2016 Dodge Ram 1500.  His vehicle failed to negotiate the turn and struck the snow bank on the south shoulder of State Highway 37. No damage occurred as a result.

Police say that Wright’s blood alcohol content was determined to be 0.24%.  He was charged with Aggravated DWI and further ticketed for moved from lane unsafely, improper left turn and drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle. Wright was released with tickets to appear before the Town of Oswegatchie Court.  

Arrest made in underage enforcement in Delhi

(Delhi, NY – February 1, 2019) – On January 25, 2019, New York State Police report that in conjunction with the New York State Liquor Authority and the State University of New York at Delhi conducted an Underage Enforcement detail. 

One person was arrested under the New York Alcoholic Beverage Control Law, Section 65 – Prohibited Sale to a Person Under the Age of 21.  Codey A. Wood, age 24 of Delhi, an employee of O’Neill’s Shire Pub on Main Street in Delhi was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Delhi Town Court on February 19, 2019.

The initiative targets the sale of alcohol to minors and utilizes a member of the New York State Police and an underage undercover operative. The team conducts local area bar checks.  No other locations in the village of Delhi were found in violation and were found to be in compliance.
