New York: State Police DWI checkpoint awards Roni Diaz of Stamford, Ct. with DWI arrest for twice the limit.

On June 16, 2012, starting at 10:00 pm until 3:00 am on June 17, 2012, The New York State Police conducted a fixed sobriety checkpoint on State Route 6 in the Town of Southeast. During this detail, 156 vehicles passed through the checkpoint resulting in two DWI arrests, one Unlawful possession of Marijuana arrest and 36 traffic tickets issued.
Candice Acker, 29, of Holmes, NY, was arrested for DWI (.10% BAC), issued traffic tickets and is due in the town of Southeast Court on 06/21/12 at 3:30 pm.
Roni Diaz, 43, of Stamford, CT, was arrested for DWI (.16% BAC), issued traffic tickets and is due in the town of Southeast Court on 07/10/12 at 6:30 pm.
Mark Alequin, 19, of Carmel, NY, was found to be in possession of marijuana. He was issued an appearance ticket and is due in the town of Southeast court on 07/12/12 at 6:30pm.
The New York State Police will continue with unannounced DWI details throughout the year.
Clinton Corners Woman Arrested for DWI
At approximately 3:20am on Tuesday, June 19th, Troopers from SP Rhinebeck observed an occupied parked vehicle that was running behind a local business establishment in Hyde Park. Troopers approached the vehicle and interviewed the driver, identified as Elisa Kischuk, 22, of Clinton Corners, NY. Upon interviewing Ms. Kischuk, it was determined that she was intoxicated by alcohol. She was taken into custody and transported to SP Rhinebeck for processing. Ms. Kischuk submitted to a breath test which resulted in a .09% BAC. She was issued tickets returnable July 19th at 5pm, in the Town of Hyde Park Justice Court.
Leandra’s Law DWI Accident – Town of Rhinebeck
On 06/19/12, the New York State Police at Rhinebeck arrested Ashleigh Hogan, 31, of Red Hook for DWI. Hogan was driving her vehicle on Stone Church Road, Rhinebeck when she lost control, went off the south shoulder of the road then partially rolled over before coming to a rest in brush. Hogan and a juvenile female in the car were injured. They were brought to Northern Dutchess Hospital for treatment.
Hogan was later ticketed for DWI under Leandra’s Law. She will appear in Rhinebeck Court on 06/28/12. Troopers were assisted by Rhinebeck Fire Department and Northern Dutchess Paramedics.
DRIVER FAILS TO DIM HEADLIGHTS, FOUND TO BE INTOXICATED

The New York State Police report that a Nassau, NY man is facing drunk driving charges after failing to dim his high beam headlights for oncoming traffic. Gary Stangle, 49, was stopped on Route 20 in West Lebanon by Trooper Nicholas Lombardi. Stangle was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and tested at a .11% blood alcohol concentration. He will appear in the New Lebanon Town Court on June 21st.
Unauthorized Use and DWI Arrest – Town of Hillsdale

On 06/21/12, the New York State Police at Livingston arrested Michael Toker, 27, of Hillsdale, NY, for Unathorized Use of a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd degree and DWI. Toker was arrested after a complaint that he had taken a car without permission from a friend. Troopers located Toker driving the vehicle on State 23 Hillsdale. He was found to be intoxicated.
Toker was processed at SP Livingston for the above charges and released on Appearance Tickets returnable to the town of Hillsdale Court on 06/27/12.
State Police in Elma and Warsaw Make a DWI Arrest
On June 21, 2012, at approximately 9:50 P.M., Trooper Schreckengost, out of SP Elma, stopped a black, 1986 Ford Mustang on Transit Road, in the town of Elma for an unauthorized light. The driver was identified as Paul M. Melson, 45, of Williamsville, N.Y., who appeared to be intoxicated and was given Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, which resulted in his arrest for Driving While Intoxicated. Melson was subsequently transported to the Elma Station, where he submitted to a positive breath test which resulted in a BAC of .10%. Melson was later released to a third party after processing and is scheduled to appear before the town of Elma Court, on 7/19/12, at 5:00 P.M.
 
On June 22, 2012, at approximately 2:35 A.M., Troopers Askey and Sobus, out of SP Warsaw, stopped a gold, Dodge Stratus on State Route 19A, in the town of Warsaw, for crossing a solid double yellow line. Upon approaching the vehicle, the driver was identified as Neil F. Gebel, 23, of Warsaw, New York, who appeared intoxicated and was given Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Gabel was subsequently arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and was transported to the Warsaw substation where he submitted to positive breath test, which resulted in a BAC of .17 %. Gebel was later released to a family member and is scheduled to appear before the town of Warsaw Court, on July 16, 2012 at 6:00 P.M.
Franklin Resident Arrested For Driving While Intoxicated
(Oneonta, NY – June 22, 2012) On June 21, 2012, SP Oneonta Troopers arrested Michael S. Silver, 46, of Franklin, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of 0.13%. The arrest resulted from a traffic stop in Oneonta, NY. Mr. Silver is scheduled to appear in the town of Oneonta Court on July 10, 2012.
Binghamton Man Arrested For Driving While Intoxicated
(Dickinson, NY – June 21, 2012) On June 20, 2012, SP Binghamton Troopers arrested Naquon T. Shirer, 35, of Binghamton, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated and Driving While Using a Mobile Phone. The arrest was the result of a traffic stop on State Route 11, Upper Front Street, in Dickinson, NY. Mr. SHIRER was issued tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Dickinson Court on a later date.
Avoca Man Arrested for DWI
Ethan L. Gerow, 20, of Avoca, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated following a property damage motor vehicle accident in the town of Bath. He was issued Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable to the town of Bath Court.
Bath Man Arrested for DWI Following Roll Over
Damien D. Hess, 28, of Bath was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation following a rollover accident in the town of Bath. Hess was the only occupant and did not sustain any injuries. He was issued Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable to the town of Bath Court.

Keith J. Johnson, 21, of Campbell was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and Drinking Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle following a traffic stop in the village of Bath. He was issued Uniform Traffic Tickets returnable to the village of Bath Court.
Geneva man arrested for DWI on the Thruway
Report of erratic operation leads to DWI arrest on the Thruway
On 06/18/12, JEFFREY R. HOLTBY, 29, of Geneva, NY, was arrested by the New York State Police – Junius Ponds for Driving While Intoxicated after Troopers received report of erratic operation on the Thruway. Mr. HOLTBY refused to submit to a chemical test to determine the amount of alcohol in his blood. He was transported to the Ontario County Jail to be held for arraignment in the morning. Mr. HOLTBY was also charged with moving from lane unsafely, driving across hazard markings, following too closely, and refusing to submit to a roadside breath screening test.

On 06/17/12, RAJESH HEERALALL, 37, of Mississauga, ON, was arrested by the New York State Police – Syracuse for Driving While Intoxicated after he was stopped for speeding on the Thruway. Mr. HEERALALL was found to have a BAC of .09%. He was arraigned in the town of German Flatts and remanded to the Herkimer County Jail in lieu of $1,000/$2,000 bail to return on 07/02/12 at 5:00 pm.

Operating with a broken windshield leads to DWI arrest on the Thruway
On 06/11/12, KATIE D. PETRAS, 23, of East Haven, CT, was arrested by the New York State Police – Schuyler for Driving While Intoxicated after she was observed operating with a broken windshield on the Thruway. Ms. PETRAS was found to have a BAC of .17%. She was released to appear in the town of Minden court on 06/21/12 at 5:00 pm. Ms. PETRAS was also charged with using an intoxicating beverage in a motor vehicle.
 Woman was four times the legal limit, say police
The New York State Police report that on 6/7/12 at 2:45PM Troop T, SP Fultonville Troopers, arrested Nancy Dwyer, 50, of Scotia, NY for Felony DWI. The Troopers responded to the Pattersonville Service Area on the New York State Thruway in the Town of Florida, Montgomery County, NY, to investigate an accident. Dwyer struck a parked car while pulling into a parking spot and they found that she was intoxicated. She was arrested for Felony DWI and her BAC was .35% which was more than 4 times the legal limit. She was arraigned in the Town of Florida Court and remained to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility on $5,000 bail pending further Court action.
