NEW YORK: State Police nabbed Michael Curran Jr for DWI with a child in his Land Rover

THE New York State Police report the following arrests:

Michael P. Curran Jr. arrested for Aggravated DWI under Leandra’s Law 

On February 12, 2021, at approximately 5:30 p.m., SP Clarence Troopers arrested Michael P. Curran Jr., 41, of Clarence, NY for Driving While Intoxicated and Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. 

Curran was operating a 2020 Land Rover on Ransom Road when he passed through a red light. Further investigation revealed Curran had been operating a vehicle while intoxicated with a child less than 16 years old in the vehicle.  Curran failed standard field sobriety tests at the scene and was transported to the New York State Police Clarence Barrack for processing where he submitted to a chemical test indicating a 0.08% BAC.  

Curran was issued appearance tickets for the town of Clarence court for future arraignment.

Mahoney refused breath test

On February 6, 2021, SP Clarence Troopers arrested Christopher A. Mahoney, 37, of Clarence, NY for Driving While Intoxicated. 

Mahoney was operating a 2020 GMC on Transit Road in the town of Clarence when he was stopped for driving erratically. Further investigation revealed Mahoney had been operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Mahoney was arrested and transported to SP Clarence for processing. He refused a chemical breath test and was issued an appearance ticket for future arraignment in the town of Clarence court. 

Michael J. Stack DWI – Drugs

On February 7, 2021, Troopers out of SP Warsaw arrested Michael J. Stack Jr., 44, of LeRoy, NY, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. 

During a traffic stop on State Route 246 in the town of Perry, Stack was exhibiting signs of impairment. Troopers determined Stack had been operating a vehicle while in an impaired condition.  Stack had failed standardized field sobriety tests.  He was arrested and transported to SP Warsaw where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) from the Warsaw Police Department.

Stack was released with appearance tickets for the town of Perry court, where he is due to appear at a later date.

Stanley W. Gilchrist Jr arrested for DWI after Great Valley accident

On February 7, 2021, State Police Machias Troopers arrested Stanley W. Gilchrist Jr., 34, of Cuba, NY for Driving While Intoxicated.

Troopers investigating a one-vehicle accident on Sugartown Road in the town of Great Valley determined Gilchrist had been operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Gilchrist was then arrested and transported to Ellicottville Police Department, where he refused to submit to a chemical breath test.

Gilchrist was released with appearance tickets for Great Valley Town Court, where he is due to appear in March.

William M. Davis arrested for DWI after Belfast accident

On February 6, 2021, SP Amity Troopers arrested William M. Davis, 55, of Nunda, NY for Driving While Intoxicated.

Troopers investigating a one-vehicle accident on State Route 19 in the town of Belfast determined Davis had been operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Davis was then arrested and transported to SP Amity, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.15% BAC.

Davis was released with appearance tickets for Belfast Town Court, where he is due to appear in March.

Samantha L. Crandell arrested for felony DWI after Machias accident

On February 4, 2021, SP Machias Troopers arrested Samantha L. Crandell, 31, of Chaffee, NY for Driving While Intoxicated: Previous Conviction Within Past 10 Years.

Troopers investigating a one-vehicle accident on State Route 16 in the town of Machias determined Crandell had been operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. She failed standardized field sobriety tests. Crandell was then arrested and transported to SP Machias, where she refused to submit to a chemical breath test.

Crandell was released with appearance tickets for Machias Town Court, where she is due to appear later this month.

Jeffrey A. Hostuttler arrested for DWI in Great Valley

On February 3, 2021, SP Olean Troopers arrested Jeffrey A. Hostuttler, 59, of Little Valley, NY for Driving While Intoxicated.

During a traffic stop on State Route 417 in the town of Great Valley, Troopers determined Hostuttler had been operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Hostuttler was then arrested and transported to SP Olean, where he refused to submit to a chemical breath test.

Hostuttler was released with appearance tickets for Great Valley Town Court, where he is due to appear later this month.

Joshua Granger charged with DWI-drugs

On February 7, 2021, New York State Troopers arrested Joshua Granger, 37, of South Dayton, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.

 The Troopers pulled Granger over for a traffic violation at the intersection of Route 249 and Versailles Plank Road in Brant and after failing several SFSTs, Granger was placed under arrest. Granger was transported to SP Collins where he was evaluated by a New York State Police Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be under the influence of a Central Nervous System Stimulant and a narcotic.

After securing a blood sample at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Granger was processed and issued tickets. Granger is scheduled to appear in the town of Brant Court.

Savannah Dorsey-Carter charged with DWI drugs – Meth

On February 7, 2021, New York State Troopers arrested Savannah Dorsey-Carter, 21, of Ripley, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree. The Troopers responded to Route 430 in Sherman for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. Dorsey-Carter was determined to be the driver and placed under arrest after failing several SFSTs.

Two bags containing methamphetamine were located in Dorsey-Carter’s possession. Dorsey-Carter was transported to SP Fredonia where she was evaluated by a New York State Drug Recognition Expert and determined to be under the influence of a Central Nervous System Depressant.

After securing a blood sample at Brooks Memorial Hospital, Dorsey-Carter was processed and issued tickets. Dorsey-Carter is scheduled to appear in the town of Mina Court on a later date to answer the charges. Dorsey-Carter was uninjured from the accident.
