Angola man arrested for DWI

EVANS – According to the New York State Police, on February 22nd at approximately 1:30 am Troopers arrested 24 yr old Anthony Szarpa of Garfield Ave in Angola for DWI, following a traffic stop on Garfield Ave.  Troopers stopped his car after he failed to signal a turn, and after speaking with him determined he had been drinking.  He failed a series of field sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested.  He was processed at SP Collins, with a reportable BAC of .10%.  He’s due in Evans Town Court later this month.

Two DWI Drivers Arrested by Same Trooper on One Shift
On February 19th a Clarence Trooper arrested two drunk drivers within a 2 ½ hour period. The Trooper stopped a grey Chrysler on Genesee St in the Town of Cheektowaga for driving with no head lights at about 1:10 AM. The operator identified as Vincent L Barrese age 46, of Stoney Heights Ct. in Clifton Park NY, showed signs of intoxication and failed roadside sobriety tests. Mr. Barrese was placed under arrest for DWI and submitted a breath sample for testing which showed his Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) to be .16%. He was issued tickets to appear in the Town of Cheektowaga Court on a later date.
About 3:30 AM the same Trooper stopped a brown Honda Civic on Transit Rd. in the Village of Depew for speeding and failure to dim the high beam headlights. The operator, identified as Nicole Dmowski, 29, of Slate Creek Dr. in Cheektowaga showed signs of intoxication and failed roadside sobriety tests. She was placed under arrest for DWI and submitted a breath sample for testing which showed her Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) to be a .26%. Due to the Blood Alcohol Concentration level Ms. Dmowski was charged with Aggravated DWI. Ms. Dmowski was issued traffic tickets and is to appear in the Village of Depew Court on a later date

On February 20, 2014 at approximately 1:45 a.m., State Police conducted a traffic stop on a white Audi on Church Street in the Town of Chesterfield. The operator, 23-year-old Joshua M. Stone of Keeseville, became hostile with troopers, yelling obscenities at them. State Police advised Stone he was under arrest, at which point he began to resist being taken into custody. Stone was taken into custody after a brief altercation with troopers. Stone was charged with Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Driving While Intoxicated. His blood alcohol content was determined to be .09%. Stone was also issued a ticket for inadequate exhaust. Stone was arraigned in the Town of Lewis Court and remanded to Essex County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail, or $1,000 bond. He is to reappear on February 20, 2014 at 6 p.m.

(Colesville, NY – February 18, 2014) On February 18, 2014, troopers from SP Binghamton arrested Emily A. Bixby, 31, of Norwich, NY for the class E felony of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child.  The arrest resulted from a complaint of a disabled vehicle on Colesville Road in Colesville, NY.  Troopers responded and found that Ms. Bixby had driven her vehicle, with a five year old passenger, just off the roadway and was stuck in the snow.  An investigation determined that Ms. Bixby was intoxicated when she did this.  She refused to submit to a breath test.  Ms. Bixby was arraigned in the Town of Colesville Court and remanded to the Broome County Jail on $1,500.00 cash bail.  Her next court date has not been determined yet.  The five year old passenger was turned over to a family member.
