New York: State Police note recent DWI arrests: Jill A Bauer arrest leads the list

According to the New York State Police, the following persons were charged with DWI:

On June 23rd, at about 10:50 PM, on Broadway in the Village of Alden, Troopers stopped a black Chevrolet Impala for speeding.
A subsequent interview of the operator, Jill A Bauer, 48, of 10 Ellicott Pl. in Depew, revealed possible intoxication. The Trooper conducted field sobriety tests with Ms. Bauer and she was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). She then submitted a breath sample for testing which showed a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) level of .09%. Ms. Bauer was issued traffic tickets to appear in the Village of Alden Court on a later date.

On June 23rd, at about 6:15 PM, Elma Troopers observed the driver of a black Toyota Camry on Transit Rd in the Town of Elma not wearing her seatbelt. The Troopers stopped the vehicle and interviewed the operator Lisa L Sciandra, 27, of Towers Blvd in Cheektowaga. The Troopers observed signs of intoxication, and after further evaluation she was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Ms. Sciandra provided a voluntary breath sample and a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) level of .13% was received. She was issued traffic tickets to appear in the Town of Elma Court on a later date.

Fredonia Troopers arrested Virginia Barnes, 40, of Erie, Pennsylvania on Sunday night for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated. Barnes was parked on the south shoulder of the road on State Route 20 in the Town of Portland when a Trooper stopped to check on her.  She was apparently lost and could not find her way back home.  After failing field sobriety tests she was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.  She was processed at the Barracks and her BAC was found to be .25%.  She was issued tickets for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated and failing to submit to a breath screen.  She is due in the Town of Portland court on July 16th.

Boozing and walking in traffic probed in death of pedestrian; driver cleared
The New York State Police in Machias investigated a fatal car/pedestrian accident that was reported early Sunday, June 23, 2013.
A 28 year old man was walking in the traffic lane of State Route 16 in the Cattaraugus County, Town of Yorkshire at about 1:44 AM when he was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound.  Edward Speaker, of Machias, NY was killed when he was struck by the vehicle.
There was no intoxication of the part of the vehicle operator, Jeanette Peterson, who was checked at the scene and refused medical treatment or transport by ambulance personnel.   The passenger in the vehicle was also uninjured.
Investigation into the cause of the pedestrian entering the roadway is continuing, but intoxication is a contributing factor.
The State Police were assisted at the scene by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Department and Delevan Fire Department and
Ambulance personnel.On June 22, 2013 Trooper Joseph H. Krywalski of the New York State Police in Jamestown arrested Joshua Kacprzak, age 27, of Martin Rd in Henrietta for Driving While Intoxicated. Kacprzak was stopped for failing to use his seatbelt on Allegany Rd in Sunset Bay , Town of Hanover. After failing field sobriety tests Kacprzak was taken into custody and transported to SP Fredonia. He provided a breath sample of .16%. He was released with traffic tickets and is due back in the Town of Hanover Court on July 11, 2013.

On 6/22/13, at approximately 4:20 a.m., Trooper Kevin Wiles arrested Brad M. Clayson, 26, of Olean, NY for DWI. Troopers located Clayson on Abbott Rd in the Town of Lyndon after being dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle. Upon arrival, the troopers observed Clayson to be sleeping in his running vehicle with his foot on the brake. Clayson was arrested for DWI and returned to SP Machias for processing, where he was determined to have a .21 blood alcohol content. Clayson was issued tickets for aggravated DWI and other vehicle and traffic charges. Clayson is to answer the charges in the Town of Lyndon Court on a later date.

On June 20, 2013, Amity based State Police charged Coddie B. Bissell, 36, of Richburg with felony Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated pursuant to a motorcycle accident investigation.  Witnesses reported the accident on Reed St in the Town of Wirt and advised that the operator, Bissell, had fled the scene.  Troopers located Bissell at his residence a short distance away and pursuant to an investigation, took him into custody.
Bissell was transported to SP Amity and processed, where he provided a breath sample of .21%.  He was arraigned in the Town of Wirt Court and remanded to the Allegany County Jail in lieu of $2500 cash or $5000 bond, due back in court on July 17, 2013 at 5:30PM.

On June 19, 2013 Trooper Joseph H. Krywalski of the New York State Police in Jamestown arrested Frank Cartalano, age 57, of Crestview Dr in the Town of Cherry Creek for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated, a class E felony. Cartalano was stopped for moving from lane unsafe on SR-60 in the Town of Ellicott. After failing field sobriety tests Cartalano was taken into custody and transported to SP Jamestown. He provided a breath sample of .24%. He was released with traffic tickets and is due back in the Town of Ellicott Court on June 26, 2013.
On June 18th, at about 12:15 AM, a Holland Trooper stopped a grey Ford Fusion for speeding on Transit Rd in the Town of Elma.
The Trooper interviewed the operator Cameron J Kukla age 23, of Francis Ave. in Cheektowaga, and observed the smell of alcohol and signs of possible intoxication. Mr. Kukla failed roadside sobriety tests and was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). He supplied a breath sample and a Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) reading of .10% was received. Mr. Kukla was issued traffic tickets for Speeding and DWI returnable in the Town of Elma Court on a later date.On June 17th, at about 1:00 AM, a Clarence Trooper observed a black Oldsmobile fail to stop at the stop sign on Cedar Rd at the intersection with Salt Rd in the Town of Clarence.The vehicle was then observed speeding on Salt Rd. The Trooper stopped the vehicle and identified the operator as Brandon J Knavel age 24, of Salt Rd in Clarence Ctr. The Trooper observed signs of intoxication and Mr. Knavel failed roadside field sobriety tests. He was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated and later refused a breath test. He was issued traffic tickets for Failing to Stop for a Stop Sign, Speeding, Drinking Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle, and Driving While Intoxicated (DWI). Mr. Knavel is to appear in the Town of Clarence Court on a later date and will be scheduled for a DMV breath test refusal hearing. 

The New York State Police based out of the SP Boston barracks arrested NATHAN D. HINTERBERGER (age 24) of Orchard Park, NY for DWI, after stopping him for speeding (80 mph in 55 mph zone) at approximately 9:40 PM Friday night, on St-5 in Lackawanna.  He was processed at SP Boston where his reportable BAC was 0.13%, and is to return to the City of Lackawanna court on June 21, 2013

(Kirkwood, NY – 06/24/13) On June 24, 2013, SP Binghamton Troopers arrested Alan C. Welch, 63, of Binghamton, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC result of 0.14%. The arrest resulted from a traffic stop on Colesville Rd. in the Town of Kirkwood, NY. Mr. Welch was processed and issued an Appearance Ticket and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Kirkwood Court on July 2, 2013.

Interstate 81 Slowed As Troopers Investigate Tractor Trailer DWI Accident

The New York State Police in Pulaski investigated a 2 vehicle minor personal injury accident that occurred on Interstate 81 northbound in the Town of Richland at approximately noon today.  Brandy Ingersoll, age 24, Rodman NY was northbound in a passenger vehicle when she lost control striking the median guiderail.  She then drove back over the roadway striking a tractor trailer operated by Bradley Hunold, age 35, Clay NY  forcing it off the right shoulder into a group of trees.  Both operators were taken to Upstate Hospital Syracuse and treated for minor injuries. The interstate was down to one lane for approximately 4 hours while crews worked to remove the wreckage.  Ms. Ingersoll was charged with DWI and other Vehicle Traffic Law Violations.  She is due to appear in the Town of Richland Court on August 26, 2013.
(City, NY ) – On June 9th, 2013 at approximately 11:40 p.m. Troopers out of SP Fulton observed a vehicle with South Carolina registration stopped along the shoulder of State Route 3 in the Town of Volney.  Troopers stopped to check on the welfare of the driver, 35 year old Sean S. Smith of West Columbia, SC. During the interview, Troopers observed that Mr. Smith appeared to be intoxicated. Mr. Smith submitted to sobriety tests and was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.
Mr. Smith submitted to a breathalyzer test resulting in a BAC of nearly twice the legal limit. Smith was issued tickets for DWI and is due in Volney Town Court on June 17th, 2013 at 6:00 p.m.
