NEW YORK: State Police report DWI arrests for May 2021: James Borsuk charged after dropping boards in the highway from his pickup

The New York State Police report the following arrests:

BORSUK BOMBED WITH BOARDS IN ELMA

The New York State Police reports that on May 10, 2021, troopers out of State Police Barrack Elma charged James P. Borsuk, 66, of Wales NY, with Driving While Intoxicated. Borsuk was traveling on Clinton street in the town of Elma when several boards fell off his truck. Another motorist observed the boards and followed Borsuk to a gas station on Bowen road. Borsuk appeared to have trouble walking when he exited his vehicle and the motorist contacted 911. Troopers arrived on the scene and interviewed Borsuk. They detected the odor of alcohol coming from Borsuk. After failing sobriety tests Borsuk was taken into custody and transported to SP Elma where he provided a breath sample of .16% BAC. Borsuk was processed for Driving While Intoxicated and released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Elma Court on 06/14/21 at 6:30 PM.  

WANDERING RYAN

On May 8, 2021 troopers out of SP Boston charged Ryan P Hartnett, 40, of Boston NY, with Driving While Intoxicated. Hartnett was traveling on Boston State Road in the town of Boston when troopers observed he was speeding and moving from his lane. The trooper conducting the traffic stop detected the odor of alcohol coming from Hartnett. After failing sobriety tests Hartnett was taken into custody and transported to SP Boston where he provided a breath sample of .17% BAC. Hartnett was processed for Driving While Intoxicated and released on appearance tickets returnable to the town of Boston Court on 06/07/21 at 6:00 PM.  

NOT TOO GOOD AT SOBRIETY TEST

On May 8th, 2021, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Gary Peters, 51, of Lakewood, for Driving While Intoxicated. The Troopers and Lakewood Busti Police responded to McDonald’s on Fairmount Avenue in Jamestown for a report of an intoxicated driver. Peters was placed under arrest after failing several SFSTs and transported to SP Jamestown where he provided a breath sample of .09. Peters was then processed, issued tickets, and released. Peters is scheduled to appear in the town of Ellicott Court next month.

DRUGS AND DRIVING ADVENTURE ENDS IN DITCH

On May 7th, 2021, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Blaydon Niles, 29, of Falconer, for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd Degree.  The Troopers responded to Hartson Road in Kennedy for a report of a vehicle in the ditch. The driver and sole occupant, Niles, exhibited multiple signs of being impaired and was subsequently placed under arrest. Inside the truck a bottle containing Vicodin pills was located. Niles was transported to SP Jamestown where he refused to be evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert and to provide a blood sample. A check of Niles’ driving record revealed that his license was currently suspended. Niles was then processed and transported to the Chautauqua County Jail.

DWI DRUGS CHARGED TO KYLE WAGNER FOR WORK ZONE MELEE ON I-190

On May 4, 2021, at 11:30 P.M., Troopers out of SP Niagara arrested Kyle J. Wagner, 31 of North Tonawanda, NY for Driving While Intoxicated (Drugs) and numerous vehicle and traffics infractions.

On May 4, 2021, Troopers responded to a vehicle collision on the I-190 south bound in the city of Niagara Falls in an active work zone. Further investigation revealed that Wagner was operating a 2007 Jeep on the I-190 south bound. Wagner entered the work zone and stuck over seventeen traffic cones then went through six cut stops causing major damage to the Jeep near the Lasalle Expressway exit. No Department of Transportation workers were injured. Wagner failed SFST’s administered. Troopers transported Wagner to SP Niagara and a Drug Recognition Expert administered additional tests, in which Wagner failed.

Wagner was issued appearance tickets returnable to the city of Niagara Falls.

BOOZE WAS JUST THE TICKET FOR RYAN

On May 4th, 2021, New York State Troopers arrested Ryan Kreuzer, 31, of Angola, for Driving While Intoxicated. Kreuzer was pulled over on Holland Road in Angola for a traffic violation and after failing several SFSTs, Kreuzer was placed under arrest. Kreuzer was transported to SP Collins where he provided a breath sample of .13. Kreuzer was then processed, issued tickets, and released. Kreuzer is scheduled to appear in the town of Evans Court next month.

Driving takes the fun out of doing drugs

On May 2, 2021, troopers out of SP Boston arrested Cory K. Cochran, age 23, of the town of Holland, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs. Troopers responded to State Route 400 in the town of Elma for a report of a disabled vehicle with two flat tires. Troopers interviewed the diver, Cochran, who showed signs of intoxication from drugs. Cochran was given standard field sobriety tests which he failed. He was arrested for DWAI drugs and transported to SP Elma where he was given a drug evaluation. Cochran was printed, photographed, and processed. He was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Elma Court on 05/27/21 at 6:00 PM.

Way too much for senior citizen on Hardscrabble Road

On May 3rd, 2021, Troopers out of SP Jamestown arrested Nancy Stuart, 63, of Randolph, for Driving While Intoxicated. Stuart was pulled over for committing a traffic violation on Hardscrabble Road in Randolph and after failing several SFSTs, Stuart was placed under arrest. Stuart was transported to SP Jamestown where she provided a breath sample of .15. Stuart was then processed, issued tickets, and released. Stuart is scheduled to appear in the town of Cold Spring Court on a later date.
