MURPHY — A Florida woman driving too fast and with a blood-alcohol level over the legal limit lost control of a car in a curve and fatally struck a man mowing grass, authorities said in a report released Friday.
Amanda Rose Davis was headed west on Hiwassee Dam Access Road at an estimated 70 mph in a 55 mph zone when she entered a curve, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol report.
Davis, 22, ran off the right side of the road, down an embankment and into a riding lawn mower being driven by Thomas Martin Stiles, 63, the patrol said. ….MORE
