ASHEVILLE — A deputy with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office was fired after being charged with driving while impaired, the agency said Saturday.

Jason Honeycutt was arrested by city police on the charge at Mission Hospital, Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Natalie Bailey said.

The Sheriff’s Office learned of the charge Friday, she said.

“Honeycutt’s employment with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office has been terminated,” Bailey said. “The Asheville Police Department was the arresting agency, and an investigation is ongoing.” ….MORE
