Ohio: Dayton area impaired driving arrests up during Fourth of July weekend

(July 7, 2011) Drunken driving arrests more than doubled for the holiday weekend compared to last year’s in Montgomery County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, while the state saw a decrease in arrests.
In 2010, there were 15 arrests from July 2 to July 5. Last weekend, 31 OVI arrests were made from July 1 to July 4.
Lt. Anne Ralston, public affairs commander for the State Highway Patrol, said the holiday is “traditionally the most dangerous of the three big summer holidays.”
Greene County and Miami County had a decrease with Greene County making nine OVI arrests this year in comparison to the 14 they made in 2010. Miami County arrested five drivers this year and 12 the year before.   ……MORE
