DUII DRIVER ARRESTED FOLLOWING TRAFFIC COMPLAINTS, BRIEF ATTEMPT TO ELUDE – INTERSTATE 5 NEAR ALBANY

05/01/2014  — A 26-year old Salem woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon by Oregon State Police (OSP) after she attempted to elude a trooper following several traffic complaints of poor driving southbound on Interstate 5 north of Albany.

On April 29, 2014 at approximately 4:25 p.m., OSP Northern Command Center dispatch began receiving reports of a silver car southbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 245 driving very erratically from shoulder to shoulder. At one point the car struck the center median barrier, nearly hitting other vehicles and almost went off the road as it continued southbound.

An OSP trooper spotted the car, a 2010 Chevrolet Aveo four-door, southbound near milepost 235 and witnessed continued poor, erratic driving. The trooper tried to stop the car but the driver failed to yield, speeding up to near 90 mph for about two miles before slowing and yielding at approximately 4:37 p.m. near milepost 231.

The trooper contacted the driver identified as AMANDA ROSE MARKUSON, age 26, from Salem, Subsequent investigation led to her arrest for DUII, Reckless Driving, and Felony Attempt to Elude in a Vehicle. She was lodged in the Linn County Jail.
