The Albany Police Department reports that on Tuesday, October 13, 2020, at 7:52 p.m., the Albany Police Department and Albany Fire Department responded to NE Century Drive, just north of the Knox Butte intersection, on the report that a vehicle struck a pedestrian.

The pedestrian was identified as 61-year old Colleen Kay McDonald of Albany and she died at the scene of the collision.

Investigators learned that Colleen McDonald was walking north along the right shoulder of the road on Century Drive. Colleen McDonald was struck from behind by a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, driven by her husband, 53-year old Gary Donovan McDonald of Albany.
Gary McDonald was driving north on Century Drive when the collision occurred.
Investigators from the Multi-Agency Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to complete the fatal crash investigation. Century Drive was closed for over 3 hours. Alcohol was a contributing factor in this fatal crash.
Gary Donovan McDonald was arrested, taken to the Albany Police Department for further investigation, and later lodged in the Linn County Jail on the following charges:
• Manslaughter in the 2nd Degree
• Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants
• Reckless Driving

Colleen Kay McDonald of Albany Oregon, a beloved mother and grandmother passed away on Tuesday October 13, 2020.
She was born in Bowman, North Dakota on May 9, 1959 to Al and Lucile (Sorenson) Bates.
She lived in Modesto California most of her life. She graduated from Grace Davis High, was a cashier at Save Mart for 25 years before retiring.
She loved her dogs, walks in nature, and collecting rocks.
Colleen is survived by her children; Jeramiah (Saundra) Reeves and Joshua Reeves; and grandchildren Stephany Reeves, Alyssa Reeves, Olivia Reeves, Draco Reeves, and Adelin Reeves; great grandson Anthony Jr, and her longtime friends that she considered siblings; Jo Anne Thornton, Mark Thornton, Sylvia Smith and John Seefried.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents; and her third husband Raymond Robinson.
