Pennsylvania: Judge’s decision in case of ex-cop who killed woman while DUI in his truck makes a blogger in Philly really angry

Barbara Brown’s life ended on April 19 when, investigators say, an ex-cop-turned-private-eye drove his 7,000-pound Ford Excursion head-on into her Toyota Camry on Route 152 in New Britain Township.
The private eye, William John Bell, 56, of Doylestown Township, told police that he had attended a funeral earlier that day. Afterward, he went to a bar/restaurant about noon, where he spent approximately five hours.
Within two hours of the crash, Bell’s blood alcohol level was .225, nearly three times the Pennsylvania legal limit for drivers. That’s a remarkable accomplishment for a man who is 6 feet 1 inch and nearly 300 pounds.
As Barbara Brown, 50, lay trapped and gravely injured in the wreckage, police officers arrived and saw Bell, who staggered, had“slurred speech,” “red and glassy eyes” and “an odor of alcohol,”according to an affidavit.
Bell was arrested and charged with causing Brown’s death but, as you will see, alcohol isn’t the only thing that stinks about this case. ….MORE
