Pennsylvania: just what the jailhouse needs – another lawyer! Kate M. Kelly waits to be sentenced for double DWI charges

COURTHOUSE — A Montgomery County lawyer has admitted to driving drunk during two crashes, including one with a SEPTA bus that allegedly involved injuries, between 2009
and 2010.
Kate M. Kelly, who also went by the name of Katherine M. Roop at the time of one of the crashes, pleaded guilty in county court on Monday to two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol in connection with crashes that occurred in East Norriton and Norristown.

  • Authorities alleged Kelly’s blood-alcohol content during the 2009 minor crash was 0.27 percent and was 0.21 percent during the 2010 crash with the bus. The legal blood-alcohol content for driving is 0.08 percent.
  • Kelly, 47, of Yorkshire Drive, Whitpain, faces mandatory minimum 72 hour sentences for each of the charges when she’s sentenced later this year by Judge Gary S. Silow. …..MORE
