Officers found two cars in the roadway, Auclair’s and a car registered to Brendan Palmer, 23, of East Greenwich. Gallucci said Auclair identified himself as, and was attired in the uniform of, a Providence Police Officer and told officers he was on his way home from his assigned shift at the Providence Police Department when the accident occurred. Palmer, who was the lone occupant of the second vehicle, was also at the scene and inside his car when officers arrived.
Palmer was identified as an off-duty Rhode Island State Police Trooper. MORE
