Perez Antwon Brooks, charged with DUI in fatal crash on interstate

RICHLAND COUNTY, SC — One person was killed and another person was arrested following a Friday morning crash on Interstate 20 in Richland County.

Lamont Hampton, 52, of Columbia was killed when his vehicle, a 2004 Chrysler SUV, was struck from behind and knocked off the roadway into a tree at about 7 a.m. The crash occurred on westbound I-20 near 69 mile marker, between Monticello and Fairfield roads.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said Hampton, who was not wearing a seatbelt, died at the scene from multiple trauma.
