MYRTLE BEACH —  Police charged a Myrtle Beach woman with driving under the influence after officials said she struck a city police officer who was investigating a traffic crash on U.S. 17 Bypass near Broadway at the Beach late Sunday.

Tammie Deliberti, 25, of Myrtle Beach is charged with DUI and booked into J. Reuben Long Detention Center at 3:46 a.m. Monday, according to jail records. She was being held at 1 p.m.. Monday on $1,000 bond.

State troopers from the S.C. Highway Patrol charged Deliberti and are investigating because it involves Myrtle Beach police, said Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins.

Troopers were called to U.S. 17 Bypass in front of Broadway at the Beach just before midnight Sunday for a traffic crash involving the officer,
