Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott announces the arrest of Allison Ricard, 29, for driving while under the influence.

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that on Saturday, February 7, 2015 Ricard was arrested by law enforcement with the City of Columbia Police Department following a traffic stop on 1000 Harden Street. The Sheriff stated that Ricard was stopped for disregarding a traffic control device. It was determined by the officer that Ricard had been operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Lt. Curtis Wilson, the Public Information Officer for Richland County Sheriff’s Office told the DWIHitParade that the DUI arrest of Ricard is her first.

“We have had two deputies terminated due to DUI since 2010,” said Lt. Wilson in response to the inquiry of how many other deputies have been charged with DUI in recent years.  “Ricard’s case is pending and she is suspended without pay pending the outcome of the case. This is her first DUI.”

Sheriff Leon Lott stated that Ricard, a Richland County Sheriff’s Deputy was suspended immediately without pay until further notice. The Sheriff added that Ricard was off duty and in her personal vehicle at the time of this incident. Ricard was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
