The driver, later identified as Lee W VOLGARDSEN, age 41, of Eugene, fled the scene on foot prior to emergency vehicles arriving. He was later located and his residence. VOLGARDSEN was taken into custody and transported to the Lane County Jail where he was charged with Manslaughter in the Second Degree.

For unknown reasons, BOND, traveled off of the roadway, and veered back onto the roadway losing control of the vehicle. The vehicle collided with a concrete barrier and overturned ejecting the three occupants in the bed of the pickup.
