New York: Chautauqua County Sheriff notes DWI arrests for Aug. 17, 2014

On 7-19-14 at around 2:20AM, Sheriff’s patrol stopped a vehicle on Foote Avenue in Jamestown after noticing that it was riding on the rim of a blown front tire and had what appeared to be fresh collision damage and mud on the front end of the vehicle. The vehicle was also leaking a significant amount of anti-freeze. When Deputies approached the operator, it was observed that the vehicle’s airbags had blown and the operator was injured. The operator was identified as Larry P. Babcock Jr, 31, of Jamestown, NY. An ambulance was called to the scene to evaluate Babcock and medics determined he was going to flown by Starflight helicopter to Hamot hospital in Erie, PA. Deputies located a crash site on Foote Avenue Extension in the Town of Kiantone where Babcock drove off the road and struck an earth embankment. Parts of Babcock’s vehicle were located at that site, verifying the location. Deputies interviewed Babcock at Hamot, and following the investigation, Babcock was charged with Driving While Intoxicated and other traffic infractions
