A Texas A&M basketball player was arrested early Sunday morning after police said they pulled him over for driving without his headlights.
Authorities said that the 21-year-old Tonny Trocha-Morelos was stopped near Old Main and Welborn Road in College Station just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Trocha-Morelos has been placed on immediate suspension until he meets with the athletics director, according to Adam K. Quisenberry with A&M Athletics.
Officers said that Trocha-Morelos displayed several signs of intoxication and was unable to pass the field tests that were administered, according to police records.

According to a police report, Trocha-Morelos was driving a 2001 BMW X5 without the vehicle’s headlights on.
The 21-year-old was intoxicated, according to the police report.
The officer noted in his report the odor of alcohol on Trocha-Morelos’ breath, glassy eyes, poor balance and difficulty following simple instructions.
Trocha-Morelos has no prior convictions for DWI, according to records.
He was booked into the Brazos County jail at 5:45 a.m. Sunday and bonded out at 6:49 a.m. on a $2,000 bond.
Per athletics department policy, a student-athlete who is arrested is suspended immediately pending a meeting with the Athletics Director.
Texas A&M Head Coach Bill Kennedy released the following statement to media this afternoon:
“I have been made aware of the charge. Once all the facts are gathered, we will take the proper action and the matter will be handled internally.” ...MORE
