Texas: Joel Garcia charged with three counts of DWI manslaughter in Christmas Eve nightmare

Killer Joel Garcia killed 3 in El Paso on Christmas Eve 2014EL PASO, TEXAS –  El Paso Police report that Joel Garcia, 24, of El Paso was charged with three counts of intoxicated manslaughter on a Dec. 24, 2014 crash that killed three people.

Police say that the crash on Joe Battle at the intersection with Vista Del Sol occurred when Garcia drove his 2010 Camaro through a red light. Enrique Gaurin was the front seat passenger when the Camaro collided with a 2004 Pontiac that was eastbound on Vista Del Sol.

Police say that the T-bone collision caused a back seat passenger to be ejected and both vehicles burst into flames. The driver, female front seat passenger and the male in the rear of the Pontiac all died in the crash.

The intoxicated driver, Garcia, was the proverbial survivor, along with his passenger and were treated for minor injuries. Police say that speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

El Paso Police report that the three deaths were the 62nd, 63rd and 64th fatalities of 2014.

ABC 7 in El Paso reports that the father of one of those killed identified his sons as being two of those killed; Isaiah Deal, 19, and Josh Deal, 23.

Garcia was arrested for DWI with blood alcohol content greater than or equal to .15 in April 2014. That case is set for a plea hearing in Feb. 2015.
