HARLINGEN TEXAS (April 23, 2011) — According to Harlingen Texas Police Sgt. John Parrish, Aureliano Arturo Moreno, 29,of Harlingen, has been charged with intoxication manslaughter in the death of Juan Beltran Aranjo, 57, of Harlingen, Texas.
Moreno was initially charged with intoxication assault in the crash which took place on April 16, 2011 when Moreno’s 1994 Chevy pickup hit Aranjo who was operating a bicycle on E. Austin Ave.
Police say that Moreno exhibited signs of intoxication and was arrested after field sobriety tests confirmed that he was intoxicated.
After Aranjo was taken to the Valley Baptist Medical Center, officials notified police that Aranjo succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash.
Bond for Moreno was set at $100,000 on April 20th following the new charges being placed.
