Texas: Simon Feliciano Cordova never saw prison for DWI death of Sgt. Paul Rangel

After a decade of probation for the death of an off-duty San Antonio police sergeant in a drunken driving wreck, Simon Feliciano Cordova, 52, appeared in court for the last time Tuesday.
But instead of celebration that his obligations to the state were over, the intoxication manslaughter convict wept.
The tears came as Cordova was asked to return a photo of victim Sgt. Paul Rangel Jr. that he had been ordered to keep in his wallet as a condition of his probation.
“He asked if he could keep the photograph because it’s penance he pays every day by looking at (it),” defense attorney Eddie Garcia explained after the brief motion to revoke probation hearing ended. …MORE
