WEST VALLEY CITY — A man is facing several charges after another man was killed in an alleged hit-and-run accident late Saturday night.

Police said 42-year-old Kevin Chase was jaywalking at Redwood Road near 4000 South around 11:30 p.m. when he was hit and killed by a southbound vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle, 56-year-old Zay Speed, initially ran from the scene, but police found him down the street behind a business.

Police said they believe Speed was high on drugs at the time of the accident. He has been charged with hit and run, DUI and automobile homicide.
