VERMONT: Drinking, drugging, driving and dying season wracks up new DUI arrests

DATE/TIME: 12/19/20 at 1855 hours

INCIDENT LOCATION: Pine Street, Duxbury, VT

VIOLATION: DUI Drugs #1

ACCUSED: Sydney Hosick                                              

AGE: 22

CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Northfield, VT

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:

The Vermont State Police report that on 12/19/20 at approximately 18:55 hours Vermont State Police received a report of a vehicle operating erratically on VT RT 100 in the town of Duxbury.

Upon checking the area Troopers were able to locate the vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence located on Pine Street in Duxbury. The operator of the vehicle was identified as Sydney Hosick of Northfield.

A subsequent investigation revealed that Hosick was operating the vehicle while under the influence of drugs.

Hosick was taken into custody and transported to the Middlesex Barracks for processing. She was processed and issued a citation to appear at the Washington Superior Court Criminal Division on 01/28/2021 to answer the charge of DUI #1. She was later released to a family member.

Nicholas Dix’s Dodge Ram attacked by a tree

On December 19, 2020, at approximately 0130 hours Vermont State Police received a call reporting a single motor vehicle crash into a tree on the side of Vermont Route 100 near Fuller Hill Road.

Troopers responded and upon arrival, the vehicle had no people with it. The vehicle appeared to have traveled off the road and struck a telephone pole and a tree. Upon further investigation, Troopers discovered Nicholas Dix had been operating the vehicle.

After locating Dix, Troopers discovered he was impaired at the time of the crash. Dix was arrested for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Violation of Conditions of Release. Dix was issued a criminal citation and released to appear in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division on January 12, 2021, at 1330 hours.

Christopher Hood found a spot to park his demo derby entry in park and ride; got a ride with a trooper

DATE/TIME: December 18th, 2020 at approximately 1954 hours 

LOCATION:  I-89 South, Waterbury, Vermont 

VIOLATION: DUI / 23 VSA 1201 

ACCUSED: Christopher G. Hood 

AGE: 40 

SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: 

On December 18th, 2020 at approximately 1954 hours Troopers from the Vermont State Police Middlesex Barracks received a report of erratic operation on I-89 south near the Waterbury exit. Witnesses advised the vehicle crashed and left the road before driving back onto the road and continuing south. Witnesses advised Troopers that the vehicle continued to the park and ride in Middlesex. 

Troopers responded to the area and located the vehicle with significant front end damage.

Police say the operator was identified as Christopher G. Hood, 40, of Williamstown, VT. Hood displayed signs of alcohol impairment and was screened for DUI. Hood was taken into custody and transported to the Middlesex State Police Barracks for processing. After processing, Hood was released to a sober family member and issued a citation to appear in Washington County Superior Court, Criminal Division to answer for the charge of DUI.
