Vermont State Police DUI arrest reports for Jan. 17, 2016
01/17/2016 — According to the Vermont State Police, the following persons were arrested for DUI:
On January 16, 2016, at approximately 1824 hours members of the Vermont State Police conducted a motor vehicle stop for defective equipment violations at the Benson Village Store in Benson, Vermont. While interacting with the operator a strong odor of intoxicants was detected. Continuing investigation revealed David W. Dumas (31) had been consuming alcohol. Field sobriety tests were administered, and Dumas (31) volunteered a preliminary breath sample which resulted in 0.134% BrAC. Dumas was subsequently taken into custody and processed for DUI.
DATE/TIME: 1/16/2016 2333 hours, LOCATION: Breezy Hill Rd. & Hospital Dr., St. Johnsbury, VT., VIOLATION: Motor Vehicle Crash / DUI, Offender: Trent Demers, 20, of Lydon, VT
On the above date and time the Vermont State Police responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of Breezy Hill Rd. and Hospital Dr. in the Town of St. Johnsbury. A Trooper located the operator of the vehicle, Trent Demers, 20, of Lyndon, VT, walking away from the crash on Pleasant St. in the Town of St. Johnsbury. Investigation revealed that Demers was under the influence of intoxicants at the time of operation. Demers provided a preliminary sample of his breath which resulted in a .138% BAC. He was taken into custody for suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (DUI). He was processed at the St. Johnsbury Barracks and released with a citation to appear in Caledonia Court at a later date.
DATE/TIME: 1/16/16 at 0145 hours, LOCATION: Lyndonville, VT., VIOLATION: DUI, ACCUSED: Nicholas Stahler                     AGE: 22, CITY, STATE OF RESIDENCE: Lyndonville, VT., SUMMARY OF INCIDENT:
On the attached date and time, Vermont State Police initiated a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle being operated by Stahler(22). Subsequent investigation revealed that Stahler was under the influence of alcohol while operating a motor vehicle. Stahler agreed to a PBT and blew a .234 roadside. Stahler was taken into custody and processed for DUI. Stahler was issued a citation to appear in Caledonia Criminal Court on 2/1/16 to answer to the charge of DUI.

On 1.15.16, Andrew Baird IV, was a defective equipment violation on Vermont Route 100, Hancock, Vermont. During the stop the Trooper detected signs of impairment. Baird IV was screened for DUI – alcohol and provided a PBT that showed his BAC was a .083. Baird IV was taken into custody and processed for DUI #1. He was cited and released with a later court date.
