12/09/2015 — Vermont State Police Tpr. Crista Maurice reports that Anna Caldwell, 18, of Graniteville, Vermont rammed into the rear of a vehicle operated by Ronald Anderson, 62, which caused Anderson’s 2009 Toyota to strike a 2012 Chevy operated by Scott Chamberlain, 72, of Warren, Vermont.

The crash took place on Moretown Mountain Road near the intersection of Vermont Route 100B, in Moretown. All vehicles were headed north when the chain-reaction crash took place, fueled reportedly by an extraordinary intake of booze in the belly of Caldwell.

Police say that the operator of Vehicle #1, Caldwell, was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time.  The results of the preliminary breath sample was a BAC of .301%.  She was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.  After processing Caldwell was issued a citation for DUI and is scheduled to appear in Washington County Superior Court – Criminal Division on 12/24/15.
