Culpeper County sheriff’s deputy was transported to Culpeper Regional Hospital after being exposed to PCP
Culpeper County Sheriff Scott Jenkins reports that at approximately 7:45 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2014, Deputy Robert Vail was patrolling Rixeyville Road in the area of Emerald Hill Elementary School, when an oncoming vehicle failed to dim its headlights. Vail conducted a traffic stop on the black BMW and found the driver, Michael L. Jackson, 39, of Culpeper, to be under the influence of drugs.
Deputy Derek Emmel and K9 Kato responded and searched the vehicle. They found PCP, but Emmel was exposed to the narcotic in the process and transported by rescue to CRH, where he was examined and released shortly thereafter.
Jackson was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs- second offense within ten years, refusal to submit to a blood sample, and failing to dim his headlights. He was committed to Culpeper County Jail with a $4000 secured bond and held until sober.
