Jessica Bowling killed in crash Ryan Spangler charged with DUI Midlothian Va 041815

 

Amelia County- Virginia State Police report that a Crewe woman was killed late Friday, April 17, 2015, in a single vehicle crash in Amelia County.  The crash occurred at 11:25 p.m., on Route 609 (Grub Hill Church Road) one mile north of Route 360.

Virginia State Police Trooper W. Boelt investigated the crash.

A 1986 GMC pickup was traveling north on Route 609 (Grub Hill Church Road) when it ran off the road right striking a tree, then ran of the left side of the road and overturning.

The passenger of the 1986 GMC pickup Jessica B. Bowling, 20, of Crewe, Va., died at the scene. She was not wearing a seatbelt.  The driver of the pickup, Ryan B. Spangler, 22, of Midlothian, Va., was not injured in the crash; he was not wearing a seatbelt.  Spangler was charged with DUI.

The Virginia State Police First Division Crash Reconstruction team assisted with the investigation.

Speed and alcohol are being considered factors in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
