Fairfax County Police Chief recounts how he was slammed into while stopped at a traffic light by a drunk driver one year ago.

From Fairfax County Police:  Almost a year ago our Chief was injured when a drunk driver hit him. Statistics indicate that 2 in 3 people will be impacted by a drunk driver in their lifetime. Today Chief Roessler is sharing his story with a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) event in Richmond to help raise awareness and encourage people to drive safe, sober, and buckled up.

*Found himself spread out onto highway with speeding traffic within inches

*Driver was three times the legal limit

*I was lucky enough to be a survivor

*If you drive drunk we are going to lock you up
