
The Fredericksburg Police report that on January 18, 2025, Officer Zecher was patrolling the area of the 400 block of William Street. She observed a white Nissan SUV in a parking lot with the ignition on and an adult male slumped over the steering wheel. The officer could smell the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the male’s breath and conducted a DUI investigation. A search of the vehicle also yielded a Glock pistol and a partially consumed bottle of liquor.

Markus Collins, 34, of Spotsylvania, was arrested and charged with DUI and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon.
During a trip to a local hospital, Collins assaulted several nurses, including kicking one in the face. Collins also spat and urinated on an officer and a nurse after threatening an officer’s life several times.

Collins now faces additional charges of defacing property, obstruction with force, threats against law enforcement, disorderly conduct, (3) counts of assault and battery against a healthcare worker, and (2) counts of assault and battery on a law enforcement officer. Collins was taken to Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
