VIRGINIA: Taylor Andujar held without bond for felony manslaughter after wrong-way DUI crash I-95 killed teen in a vehicle she hit head-on

Fredericksburg driver was so impaired she was driving the wrong way on Interstate before crashing into a New York vehicle heading south

Virginia State Police Senior Trooper D. Jablonski is investigating a two-vehicle crash in Spotsylvania County. The crash occurred Thursday, September 9, 2021, at 2:55 a.m. along Interstate 95 at the 124 mile-marker.

A 2021 Toyota Sequoia entered Interstate 95 traveling in the wrong direction and collided head-on with a Southbound 2020 GMC Yukon. The impact caused the GMC to overturn.

Virginia State Police report that the driver of the Toyota, Taylor Marie Andujar, 27, of Fredericksburg, VA, suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. Andujar was wearing a seatbelt.

The driver of the GMC, a 61-year-old male, of Bronx, NY, suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was transported to Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center. The male was wearing a seatbelt.

A passenger in the GMC, a 14-year-old female suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. The female succumbed to her injuries while being transported to the Mary Washington Hospital. The female was wearing a seatbelt.

In addition to the driver and deceased juvenile passenger, there were a second juvenile passenger and three adult passengers in the GMC. All of the passengers suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. One of the adult passengers was transported to Mary Washington Hospital. The juvenile and two other adults were transported to VCU Medical Center for treatment. Neither passenger was wearing a seatbelt.  

According to the Facebook postings of Andujar, she is the mother of four children and according to the Virginia court records, she has no prior arrests for any traffic or criminal charges, making these felony charges filed after she allegedly killed a child, the incident that will change the lives of the family from New York, as well as her own, forever.

Andujar was taken into custody and charged with one felony count of DUI manslaughter, two felony counts of DUI maiming, two felony counts of maiming in the second degree, one misdemeanor count of DUI. Andujar was transported to the Rappahannock Regional Jail where she is being held without bond.
