Washington: Seattle police sergeant arrested for DUI after hit and run crash with his police car

SEATTLE — A Seattle police sergeant was arrested over the weekend for investigation of DUI, police officials confirmed Monday.

Dispatch records show that Sgt. Joe Fountain was stopped near the intersection of Western Avenue and Spring Street just before midnight Friday night.
Officers pulled Fountain over after watching him drive erratically and commit a series of traffic violations. The officers also noticed visible damage to his car.
Seattle police called for state troopers to assist with the investigation, and logs indicate that Fountain refused to submit to a field sobriety test.
A Washington State Patrol drug recognition expert suspected Fountain was under the influence of drugs, so he was driven to Harborview Medical Center to have a blood sample taken. ….MORE

A Seattle police sergeant who had previously worked as an instructor was arrested early Saturday for DUI in a police vehicle after being involved in a hit and run crash, according to the State Patrol.
The officer, who joined the department in summer 1990, was contacted by police shortly after midnight at Western Avenue and Spring Street. Police said officers saw him committ a series of traffic violations in the department-leased Chevy Impala. ….MORE
