Washington: State Patrol report DUI charges pending for Jake A. Dubbs in head-on crash that sent Laura & Marty Thawsh to hospital

BELLINGHAM, WASH. – Jan. 1, 2016 – The Washington State Patrol reports that DUI charges in an investigation in which drugs and or alcohol were at play are pending for a Jake A. Dubbs, 32, of Deming, Wash.  who was operating a 1997 Ford pickup eastbound on State Route 542 thirteen miles east of Bellingham, Washington, when his vehicle crossed the center-line and crushed a small vehicle.

Police say that Dubbs was operating a 1997 Ford pickup eastbound on State Route 542 thirteen miles east of Bellingham, Washington, when his vehicle crossed into the westbound lanes and struck a 2004 Honda CRV head-on, seriously injuring the other driver.  The impact also injured Dubbs, who was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The impact injured Dubbs, who was transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital. The driver he hit who operating the Honda was identified as Marty Thawsh, 68, of Mount Vernon. Also injured was the passenger in the Honda; Laura Thawsh, 63, of Mount Vernon, Washington.  Both Thawshs’ were also transported to St. Josephs.  Washington State Patrol Trooper S. Brown reports that the crash took place at 1:07 pm on Jan. 1, 2016.  Two dogs were in the Honda with one of them killed. Police say that Dubbs will be booked into the Whatcom County jail upon his release from the hospital.
