Repeat DUI driver Faris Diemert fled scene after crashing into teen on bike, jailed on DUI vehicular assault and hit and run
ANACORTES, WASH. — The Washington State Patrol reports that a repeat offender DUI driver struck and injured a pedestrian after crossing the center line of Rosario Road south of Anacortes, Washington and fled the scene.
Trooper A. Kinkade reports that Faris M. Diemert, 23, of Anacortes was operating a 1998 Lexus GS400 when he hit a 16-year-old juvenile who was westbound with a bicycle on Rosario near Sharpe Road, about a half-mile from Anacortes at 11:51 pm on Aug. 4, 2017. Police say that Diemert fled the scene and was captured and jailed on DUI vehicular assault charges as well as violation of ignition interlock requirements, hit and run and driving while license is revoked.
Diemert was booked into the Skagit County Jail and held without bond.
The injured teenager was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center.
