MADISON, Wis. — A man stands accused of drunken driving when his car hit and killed a Madison woman as she attempted to cross Highway 51 on Wednesday, according to Madison police.
The crash happened at about 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Highway 51 and East Washington Avenue on the city’s East Side.
Police said the victim, a 61-year-old woman, was trying to cross the highway when she was struck by a car attempting to turn off East Washington and onto the highway.
