Louisiana: State Police suspect Charles Branch was killed due to DUI driver; waiting on blood test of Andre Collins

Branch suffered fatal injuries as a result of being struck by the Dodge. Impairment on the part of Collins is a possible factor, and a toxicology sample was taken from him and submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis. Collins was properly restrained at the time of the initial crash, and he was transported from the scene to St. James Parish Hospital in Lutcher with minor injuries.

Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Chevrolet Pick-Up, driven by 34 year-old Jason Dejean of Belle Chasse, LA, was traveling north on LA 428 straddling the left and center turn lanes. A bicyclist was traveling south in the center turn lane and was impacted by the Chevrolet. The bicyclist was ejected and died on the scene; the bicyclist’s identity is being withheld pending notification to the family.

Louisiana: State Trooper dealing with one drunk driver hit by Magen Alicia Hall; trooper injured

The driver of the Toyota Highlander, 24 year old Magen Alicia Hall of Zachary, LA, was properly restrained at the time of the crash and received minor injuries. Hall was treated at the scene, placed under arrest for DWI, and transported to LSP Troop A where she submitted to the breath alcohol test registering nearly double the legal limit
