North Dakota: Fargo school bus driver nabbed in bus while on way to pick up kids at school

WEST FARGO, ND– A West Fargo bus driver was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Wednesday afternoon after getting stuck in a snowbank while on his way to pick up a group of children. A passer-by reported the stuck school bus about 2:30 p.m. on the 100 block of 32nd Avenue, West Fargo police Lt. Duane Sall said. When officers responded to the scene, the bus was running and the driver, Steven C. Sauer, was sitting inside near the back. “Officers determined he wasn’t acting normal. Paramedics responded and cleared him medically,” Sall said. Officers could smell alcohol on Sauer, 59, and administered field sobriety tests, Sall said. No children were on the bus at the time of the incident.  MORE

New York: Shelter Island Justice Court mandates ignition interlocks in DWI cases; but who makes sure the devices are installed?

Marcos A. Reyes of Silver Spring, Maryland was fined $2,000 plus $400 for aggravated DWI. He was given three years’ probation, a six-month license suspension and a court-ordered ignition interlock. Lane and turn signal violations were dismissed as covered.

Florida: Man blasts through barrels at end of service road onto U.S. 17

A New Bern man injured in a wreck has been charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with the weekend incident, officials said Wednesday.   Jacksonville police responded to a report of a single vehicle wreck on the U.S. 17 bypass at U.S. 17 Business at approximately 11:30 p.m. Friday, according to Beth Purcell, a spokeswoman for Jacksonville Police Department.  Dennis Driver, 44, of 6206 Gondolier Drive in New Bern, was speeding in his 1997 Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck on the N.C. 24 service road when he reached the dead end and collided with the traffic barrels and guard rail, Purcell said. He then continued onto N.C. 24 and then right onto the U.S. 17 bypass, she said.   MORE

RALEIGH — Former N.C. State basketball star Anthony Grundy was charged with being a habitual impaired driver Wednesday afternoon after he was stopped and charged with DWI for a fifth time. Grundy, an All-ACC guard who played his final season with the Wolfpack in 2002, has been convicted of DWI three times and had another DWI charge pending when he was pulled over shortly after 1 p.m. Wednesday, according to court records. Police say Grundy’s blood alcohol content was .16, or twice the legal limit. He was charged with felony habitual impaired driver.  MORE

Hawaii: top sailor on nuclear sub canned after DWI arrest

HONOLULU (AP) The top enlisted sailor on a Pearl Harbor-based nuclear submarine has been fired after his arrest on a drunken driving charge.
