Lacayo swerved to miss the crashed vehicle and lost control, sliding into the barrier wall and striking all 5 people. All 5 people died as a result of their injuries sustained from being struck by Lacayo. Lacayo may have fled to Honduras.

Oleson was placed under arrest for misdemeanor driving under the influence of drugs (marijuana), possession of marijuana on school grounds and concealing evidence (hash oil) to prevent its discovery.

On February 17th, 2016, Jay Petersen fled in a pickup from an attempted traffic stop by Deputies near 84th and Pioneers Boulevard. During the follow-up investigation, a backpack belonging to Petersen was recovered.
