The reporting party advised that a subject, later identified as 56-year-old Buddy Lee Blacksmith, was driving a motorhome north on State Street near the intersection of Esplanade Avenue when Blacksmith collided with a Riverside Transit Authority bus that was also traveling on State Street.

A silver Chrysler 300 was traveling northbound on Harrison Street, in the southbound lanes. In order to avoid the Chrysler, three other vehicles collided with each other.

The driver of the Chrysler, Cosme Diaz, 51 of Coachella, stopped at the scene of the collision.

The investigation revealed a 2008 BMW X3, operated by David Y. Yarinich, age 22, from 3704 Underwood Way Syracuse, NY was traveling southbound on Kasson when he crossed over into the northbound lane striking a 2003 Toyota Avalon head-on.

The driver, Brandy Teague (10-27-83) of San Diego was later arrested and booked into Las Colinas Women’s Detention Facility on several charges, including Gross Vehicular Manslaughter, Felony Child Endangerment, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Driving While Under the Influence of Drugs. Teague was also cited for driving on a suspended license.

Salgado’s five and three year old sons were in the rear seat and were improperly restrained. Salgado failed a series of Standardized Field Sobriety Tests at the scene. She was placed under arrest and transported to the State Police Lincoln Woods Barracks where she refused to submit to a Breath Test.
