South Carolina: What was 16-year-old girl doing in a car driven by DUI driver 23-year-old Rasheed Reeves?

Troopers said Rasheed Reeves, 23, was driving drunk when his 2005 Ford Crown Victoria ran off the left side of the roadway, then veered back across the interstate and hit a guard rail on the right side.

Troopers said Reeves and a 16-year-old Greenwood girl were not wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the car. Both were taken to the hospital where the girl later died.

The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Shykeria Lyle-Daja Watts of Cemetery Road.

California: Folsom Police arrest two men for buying booze for kids; 113 DUI arrests for Memorial Day

From 12:01 AM Friday, May 23, 2014 through Midnight Monday, May 26, 2014 officers representing 17 county law enforcement agencies made 113 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2013, 104 DUI arrests occurred during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. No DUI related deaths have been reported this year. Last year there were no DUI deaths reported. If the adults purchase alcohol for the minor, officers then arrest and cite them for furnishing alcohol to the minor. The penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1000 fine and 24 hours of community service. The operation resulted in two arrests, Harrison Anderson (24) and James Ligon (53).

Forsyth County authorities have identified the boy killed in a single-vehicle wreck there as 17-year-old Paul Louis Castell Jr. of Dawsonville.

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office said Castell was a passenger in a 2011 Dodge Ram pickup when it left Kelly Mill Road near Rockingham Run, hitting a telephone pole around 1 a.m. Sunday. The impact ejected Castell, who was in the rear, passenger-side seat and reportedly was not wearing a seat belt. The teen died at the scene.
