Michigan: Lawmaker John Kivela admits he is an alcoholic after DUI arrest

Officials in Kivela’s office confirmed the lawmaker was arrested Monday evening, but referred all questions to Grassroots Midwest Tuesday afternoon. A representative from Grassroots Midwest said there are no further comments beyond the statement released Tuesday.

Texas: Dallas Assist. D. A. Justin Moore suspended after DWI arrest

DALLAS — Dallas County Assistant District Attorney Justin Moore was arrested for driving while intoxicated early Sunday morning.

According to Dallas Police’s arrest report, Moore, a DeSoto resident, was speeding, weaving in and out of lanes, tailgating and nearly sideswiped another car while driving on Highway 67 near Loop 12.

It was 2:45am when two officers say they moved to pull Moore over, and reported immediately smelling a strong stench of alcohol. They reportedly asked Moore if he had been drinking and he did not answer, and he struggled to produce a drivers license. He ultimately showed the officers his District Attorney’s Office identification.

California: Highway Patrol arrested State Senator Benjamin Hueso for DUI; he says he is sorry and will accept his punishment

SACRAMENTO (08/23/2014) – A Democratic California State Senator from San Diego has been arrested in Sacramento under suspicion of DUI early Friday morning.

According to the Sacramento County Jail booking logs, 44-year-old Sen. Benjamin Hueso was booked at 3:27 a.m. Friday. California Highway Patrol confirms that they arrested the state senator.

Officer Julie Powell, a CHP representative, says that Hueso was driving a state vehicle when he was arrested. Hueso was reportedly driving the wrong way on 15th Street when he happened upon an officer. Hueso then did a u-turn in front of the officer, CHP says, before the officer eventually pulled him over in a parking lot at 15th and X Streets. He was arrested at 2:39 a.m., according to CHP.

Texas: Oklahoma Senator who sponsored bill toughening DWI laws busted for DWI on his last day in office

An Oklahoma State Senator was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated in Grayson County, Texas, late Thursday night.

According to the Howe Police Department, Oklahoma Sen. Harry Coates, (R – Seminole), was stopped on southbound US 75 near the town of Howe around 11 p.m. Thursday, after a driver reported the vehicle to be driving erratically.
