New Mexico: Albuquerque Police made five DUI arrests on Fourth of July

From Albuquerque Police:
APD Crisis Outreach and Support Team (COAST) members Debra Andrews and Yvette Garcia assisted a homeless veteran that they met on a call this week.

The man and his dog were living on the street and had just moved to Albuquerque from Colorado. They assisted him in getting a hotel for two days and on the third day they were able to help him find an apartment.

New York: State Police arrest Almond Upton; charged with intentionally murdering Trooper Christopher Skinner on highway

After traveling approximately one mile, just north of exit 6, between Chenango Bridge and Castle Creek, Upton spotted Trooper Skinner conducting a traffic stop, traveled from the passing to driving lane intentionally striking Trooper Skinner and sideswiped the car he stopped.

Trooper Skinner was killed instantly.

Idaho: Twin Falls Chief Howard Gillette lived by a strict code of ethics, cleaned up city

In 1936, Howard Gillette was appointed Chief of Police to what has been described as a very corrupt department. Gillette made it known early in his career that he would not tolerate corruption and unethical behavior from his officers.

Oregon: State Police recognize top DUI troopers for 2013

In 2012, the Tillamook Work Site sworn staff arrested 43 DUII drivers. In 2013, troopers reported 84 DUII arrests, a 95 percent increase. Two troopers assigned to this office, Trooper John King and Trooper Aaron Butcher, ranked 1st and 2nd for DUII arrests made by all law enforcement in Tillamook County.
