Maryland: boozing BMW driver Douglas Scott Berkshire was DUI and underwater after plunge into Patuxent River

HOLLYWOOD, MD. St. Mary’s Sheriff Tim Cameron reports that a Texas man with a pricey hot rod took a cold dip into the Patuxent River on Christmas Day.

There were no known baptismal ceremonies taking place on that holy day.

Deputies responded to the end of Clark’s Landing Road for the report of a vehicle in the river.

The investigation revealed, Douglas Scott Berkshire, 38, of Austin, Texas, drove a 2011 BMW 335I, 300-400 feet off of the roadway into the water. He was subsequently arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence.

A Springfield man allegedly told police he was “annihilated” minutes after a vicious Friday night car crash that claimed the life of his longtime friend and injured another driver near the intersection of State and Golfview roads.

Edward M. Banes, a 51-year-old husband and father of five, died at Springfield Hospital less than an hour after the accident.

The driver of the car Banes was riding in, John J. McGough, 46, also of Springfield, was arrested Monday and charged with homicide by vehicle while under the influence,

Maryland: State Police report Nicholas Gayhardt crash on I-95 was likely DUI

As Gayhardt passed the trooper’s vehicle, the trooper observed his inability to maintain a single lane of travel. He traveled several times from the travel portion of the road onto the right shoulder and into adjacent lanes, weaving erratically. The trooper continued to follow Gayhardt, subsequently activating his lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle. He failed to yield to the emergency vehicle and continued to travel northbound.
