California: THUGS OF THE NFL — Aldon Smith’s DUI record increases with arrest in San Jose
It is Smith’s second such arrest, the first having occurred in January 2012 in Miami Beach. That charge was later reduced to reckless driving.
“Discipline for a second or subsequent offense is likely to be a suspension, the duration of which may escalate for repeat offenses,” the league’s substances-of-abuse policy states.
Smith’s arrest Friday marked the fifth DUI-related arrested involving a 49ers player in the past three years.
