Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation after finding several pounds of marijuana at the scene of Friday morning’s injury traffic crash on Interstate 5 south of Eugene.

On May 30, 2014 at approximately 4:50 a.m., OSP troopers, local fire personnel and ODOT responded to a scene of an injury traffic crash involving a sport utility vehicle and commercial truck blocking the northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near milepost 190. Upon arrival they found a Jeep Cherokee on its top and marijuana spilled onto the roadway and inside the overturned Jeep.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg police said the infant was not in a child seat and was being held by a passenger in the back seat, and they accuse the driver of speeding and DWI.

The driver, identified by police as Thabiti Ashim Pierre-Louis, 21, was among five people injured in the wreck and was charged at the hospital with DWI, child seat violation and overcrowding a vehicle. Police said he will be charged with felony death by motor vehicle, reckless driving, possession of marijuana and child neglect when he is released from the hospital.

Deputy Schultz stopped a 2001 Ford Taurus for a traffic violation on Chancellor’s Run Road in the area of Longfields Boulevard. The operator and sole occupant, identified as Jennifer Lee Boone, 31, of Lexington Park, was subsequently placed under arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Sgt. Laney approached the vehicle and determined that it was running and observed a subject leaning out of the driver’s side door vomiting. When the subject observed Sgt. Laney approaching the vehicle, he turned the vehicle off and threw the keys to the passenger side vehicle. While looking into the vehicle, TFC Buckalew observed suspected CDS in the vehicle.

Palm Beach Sheriffs Deputies say a Loxahatchee Groves man was half-naked and speeding while drunk and stoned with his half-naked wife on his lap when the car he was driving launched over a canal, crashing into the far side.
