On November 20, 2012, Clarence State Police Members responded to a report of a property damage automobile accident on Salt Rd. in the town of Clarence. Upon arrival at the scene the Troopers observed a vehicle that was towing a second vehicle, that had extensive damage, north on Salt Rd. A traffic stop ensued and subsequent interview revealed that William T. Timmons, 20, of Clarence was operating his vehicle south on Salt Rd. and struck a tree off the east shoulder. Timmons then contacted Karl E. Struebel, 21, of Clarence, to assist him in removing his vehicle from the scene of the accident.
